ICORE

ICORE (International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts) is a revolver‑only action shooting sport that blends elements of the Bianchi Cup, IPSC, and Speed Steel competitions. It was founded in 1991 to give revolver shooters a dedicated arena where “like guns shoot against like guns.” Why Join ICORE at Geelong?

Revolver‑focused: No semi‑automatic pistols—your favorite revolver gets the spotlight.
Dynamic Stages: Courses of fire (COFs) combine precision paper targets with steel plates, demanding both speed and accuracy.
Community: Meet fellow revolver enthusiasts, share tips, and compete in a friendly environment.

Core Elements

Target – Standard NRA D‑1 paper target with four scoring zones (A, B, C, D).

A‑zone hit adds 0 seconds.
B‑zone hit adds +1 second.
C‑zone hit adds +2 seconds.
D‑zone hit adds +3 seconds to the raw stage time.

Steel – Falling steel plates and stationary steel targets are interspersed throughout the stage. Hitting steel usually incurs a time penalty (e.g., +1 s per hit) unless a “hit‑and‑run” rule applies.

Divisions – Revolvers are grouped into four divisions to keep competition fair:

Open – Optical sights, compensators, high‑capacity magazines.
Limited – Iron sights, no compensators, limited capacity.
Standard – Basic revolvers, minimal modifications.
Classic – Vintage or single‑action revolvers.

Ammo – Any legal .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .22 LR, etc., may be used. Scoring is independent of power factor—the same time penalties apply regardless of caliber.

Magazine Capacity – Magazines (or speed loaders) must hold enough rounds to complete the stage, typically 32–36 rounds minimum. Typical Stage Layout

Start Box – Shooter begins with a “ready” command.
Paper Target – Engage the NRA D‑1 target; aim for the A‑zone to avoid time penalties.
Steel Plate(s) – Move laterally to engage falling or standing steel.
Reload – Use moon clips, speed loaders, or traditional reloading methods; reload time counts toward the stage total.
Finish – Stopwatch stops when the shooter clears the final target and signals completion.

The exact arrangement varies by match director, allowing creative and challenging courses.
